Buckner in PeruBuckner has been in Peru since 2005 when the Peruvian government sought Buckner’s help to establish a foster care and transitional service program. Buckner now has staff and church teams working in 33 government orphanages. Other support is offered through mission trips, humanitarian aid and summer interns. Buckner also operates a transitional service program for girls and a pilot foster care program in collaboration with the Ministry of Social Family Welfare.

Buckner in Guatemala
In 2001, Buckner began working with the Guatemalan government to train national childcare workers in government orphanages and foster care. Today, Buckner continues to support several government orphanages and operates a Girls’ and Boys’ Transitional Home, a home for single mothers and babies and two baby homes – one in Guatemala City and another in Xela. In addition to sending mission teams, Buckner provides humanitarian aid and follow-up support to several orphanages in Guatemala City, Antigua, Xela, Zacapa and Huehuetenango.
